Lucy Training: Ordered Logit & Probit Models in R

Presenter: Brian Fogarty

This workshop focuses on regression techniques when your outcome variable is ordinal (e.g., three ordered categories).  Ordered outcome variables are frequently encountered in social science data, especially in survey data.  Analyzing these variables necessitates the use of regression techniques that deviate from the conventional linear regression model.  We will examine ordered logit and ordered probit regression models in R during this workshop.

The topics covered during the workshop include:

  • Ordered logit & probit regression models
  • Statistical significance and regression coefficient interpretation
  • Visualizations of regression coefficients

The workshop is designed for individuals with experience using ordered logit and probit models in other statistical software (e.g., Stata, SPSS) and want to learn how to run them in R. Further, it is assumed that individuals have a basic understanding of R. We will also be using R Markdown, but it is not critical for learning the material.

This workshop will be offered in-person in Hesburgh Library. There is a limit of 15 participants for this workshop.  Register Now!

Registration must be completed by Tuesday, September 19th.
