Lucy Training: Count Regression Models in R Workshop

Presenter: Brian Fogarty

This workshop focuses on regression techniques for count outcome variables. We will examine the widely used Poisson regression model and negative binomial regression model in this workshop. (Note: this topic was original planned for the Generalized Linear Models in R – Part 2 workshop on 1/27, but was removed due to time constraints.)

The workshop will review the topic, cover the main R functions, and go through a few live demos. Following the workshop, an annotated lab handout will be provided with a small problem set for you to practice on your own.

Topics include:

• Count outcome models (Poisson and negative binomial)
• Statistical significance and regression coefficient interpretation
• Visualizations of regression coefficients

The workshop is designed for individuals with some experience using count regression models in other statistical software (e.g., Stata, SPSS) and want to learn how to run them in R. Further, it is assumed that individuals have a basic understanding of R. We will also be using R Markdown, but it is not critical for learning the material.

This workshop will be offered in-person in Hesburgh Library. There is a limit of 15 participants for this workshop.  REGISTER NOW!

Registration must be completed by Friday, February 3rd.
