Biography

Dr. Qinghua Zhao is a disease ecologist currently undertaking postdoctoral research within the Department of Biological Sciences and Lucy Family Institute for Data & Society. He earned his Ph.D. in Ecology from Wageningen University in the Netherlands in 2021.

His research primarily focused on the stability and resilience of ecological systems, with a particular emphasis on how global change drivers undermine ecosystem stability and potentially precipitate transitions to undesirable alternative states. Dr. Zhao investigates early warning signals that precede such transitions, which can be leveraged to implement preventative measures.
