Biography

Maura entered the University of Notre Dame’s Sociology Ph.D. program in the fall of 2021 and is a graduate affiliate with the Center for Research on Educational Opportunity (CREO) and Program for Interdisciplinary Education Research (ND PIER).  She received a Master’s in Social Science at the University of Chicago in 2020 with a concentration in Society and Education. Her interests are at the intersection of sociology, education, psychology, and child development.  She is currently investigating how students come to understand race through their parents and how race and Whiteness operate in the classroom.  Maura hopes to help cultivate an academic community that supports all students by promoting data accessibility and stimulating creative research opportunities.
