The Trustworthy AI Lab for Education (TALE) at Notre Dame is pleased to invite submissions for our upcoming Research Presentation/Lightning Talk session on December 1st, 2023.
Highlighting the significance of understanding and leveraging AI in education, this event seeks to foster a multidisciplinary dialogue by serving as a platform for researchers to share their findings, observations, and insights. The research presentation/lightning talk session invites submissions that resonate with the event’s core theme, focusing on the exploration and impact of AI in education. We welcome contributions delving into AI (including but not limited to generative AI), large language models (LLMs), educational data mining, and learning analytics, reflecting on the development and implications of trustworthy AI solutions in educational settings. Submissions can embrace diverse perspectives, spanning across technological advancements, ethical considerations, accessibility concerns, privacy issues, and legal frameworks, collectively contributing to a multifaceted dialogue on AI’s transformative role in shaping educational paradigms. Once accepted, presenters will have the opportunity to join the insightful sessions at ND-TALES, including panels conducted by leading experts in the field, research talks, poster sessions, and engaging roundtable discussions with international scholars and industry leaders.
The Submission of Research Presentation/Lightning Talk:
The submission can be under one of the following tracks:
- Lightning Talk: 5-minute lightning talks to present your works in progress (tentative or preliminary work), new and untested ideas (ideas for possible work), or opportunities for collaborative work.
- Research Presentation: 15-minute research presentations to share the results of your latest empirical research, showcase innovative tools and technologies, and discuss lessons learned from deployments and educational practices related to AI in education.
For both tracks, submissions should include information about the presenter, a title, and an abstract (maximum 300 words). We welcome submissions on both new, unpublished work or work that has been previously published/presented.

- Undergraduate and graduate students

Please submit your proposal by November 10th via this Google Form. Proposals should include a brief description of your proposed lightning talk or research presentation. Notification of acceptance will be sent out by November 14th. The primary presenter is expected to attend the event and present in person.
