Join us for a one-day workshop on infinity in the early-modern world, as seen through the manuscript writings of the English mathematician and polymath Thomas Harriot (1560-1621). We will be joined for the duration of the workshop by international colleagues and leading lights on the history of mathematics of the Renaissance and pre-modern era.
The workshop provides both beginner and advanced students an excellent opportunity to practice paleography ( the study of handwritten text), mathematical puzzling, and historical sleuthing. No previous expertise is required.
This workshop is part of an NEH/ AHRC project to update The Thomas Harriot Papers.
Attendance is free.
