The Lucy Family Institute for Data & Society has announced the launch of the Soc(AI)ety Seminars series, a collection of talks which will address the possibilities and challenges of artificial intelligence (AI) in today’s society.
Sessions will feature internationally-known professionals in the field of AI. The inaugural 2023-2024 series will highlight topics such as AI governance, societal impact of AI, exploring innovative ways in which responsible machine learning frameworks can advance AI system fairness, technology and democracy, and ethics and AI.
“The artificial intelligence landscape is dramatically changing, and with it, we are beginning to experience both challenges and opportunities for the future of AI,” reflects Nitesh Chawla, Frank M. Freimann Professor of Computer Science and Engineering and founding director of the Lucy Family Institute for Data & Society. Chawla explains that, “the vision of the Soc(AI)ety Seminars series is to foster a dialogue which inspires innovative approaches to responsible artificial intelligence as a force for good in society.”
