The Lucy Family Institute for Data & Society has launched an interdisciplinary postdoctoral community for Fall 2024.
Representing distinctive disciplines including Computer Science and Engineering, Aerospace & Mechanical Engineering, Biological Sciences, Anthropology, and Health Economics, postdoctoral scholars work closely with faculty from across campus to address societal issues at the interface of data science and artificial intelligence (AI). They also play an integral role in developing the Lucy Family Institute’s programming and in contributing to research within the Institute’s centers and labs.
“The Lucy Family Institute is focused on building bridges that span the interdisciplinary pathways from data science and AI. We are grateful for the diligent effort of our campus partners in helping foster an interdisciplinary community where postdoctoral scholars can expand their research, collaborate with other scholars and generate a positive impact in society,” said Nitesh Chawla, founding director of the Lucy Family Institute for Data & Society.
Chawla, who is the Frank M. Freimann Professor of Computer Science and Engineering, advises Angélica García Martínez, and co-advises Deng Pan with Nuno Moniz, associate research professor for the Lucy Family Institute for Data & Society and director of the Notre Dame-IBM Technology Ethics Lab. Chawla also advises Si Chen with Ron Metoyer, Vice President and Associate Provost for Teaching and Learning and professor in the department of Computer Science and Engineering.
