Biography

Ting Hua, Ph.D. is an Assistant Research Professor at the Lucy Family Institute. Ting’s research focuses on efficient learning of large language models (LLMs), including model compression, alignment, parameter-efficient fine-tuning, and self-training, with applications spanning natural language processing, speech, and multi-modal tasks. Broadly, Professor Hua is interested in developing scalable, controllable, and adaptive models that operate effectively under resource and supervision constraints.

Motivated by the central question—How can we make AI serve humanity, effectively and safely?—Ting is dedicated to building socially beneficial AI systems. Their work supports education, accelerates scientific discovery, and aims to bring greater equality to individuals through responsible and impactful AI innovation.
