RISE AI Conference: Travel & Logistics

Transportation

All registered participants are responsible for their own travel and transportation arrangements. Please note that Notre Dame/South Bend is located within the EASTERN TIME ZONE.

By Air

The South Bend International Airport is about 15 minutes by car from the Notre Dame campus (flights should be booked to South Bend, Indiana — airport code SBN).

Daily, direct flights are available from Minneapolis and Atlanta (Delta Airlines), Chicago (United), and Dallas/Forth Worth and Charlotte (American Airlines). Non-stop flights from Las Vegas, Orlando, and Tampa Bay are available with Allegiant Airlines on certain days. Upon arrival, various modes of transportation are available  (e.g., uber, lyft, taxi, rental car, limo).

Visitors can also fly into Chicago then drive or take a train to Notre Dame. The University is about two hours by car from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport and about 90 minutes from Midway International Airport.

By Train

The South Shore Line trains run directly from downtown Chicago to South Bend International Airport (about a 2.5 to 3-hour trip). From the airport, the Notre Dame campus is approximately a 15-minute ride by car. Various transportation methods are available (e.g., uber, lyft, taxi, rental car, limo).

Due to renovation work on the rails, a shuttle bus is provided for part of the trip.  While this does not add to the travel time (normally), it is an inconvience, especially if you are bringing large or heavy bags.

Lodging

  • The Morris Inn is located on campus and is the University’s flagship hospitality experience. Reservations may be made online or by calling 574-631-2000.

Other walkable hotels immediately south of campus include:

  • Fairfield Inn & Suites South Bend at Notre Dame – located across the street from campus at 1220 East Angela Blvd, South Bend, IN 46617.  They offer a “Notre Dame” rate of $123/night.  To request this rate please a call 574-234-5510

Parking

If you plan to drive to the meeting, there is a visitor parking lot that requires payment on the south end of campus.  (see the ND Parking Page here for more info).

If you plan to park on the University’s campus for the conference, you will be required to obtain a temporary parking permit, via the ParkMobile app. Once your permit has been obtained, please park in the Walsh Visitor Lot or the Joyce Lot. A campus map is also available.
