Responsible AI in Finance, hosted by the Notre Dame-IBM Technology Ethics Lab

Held on the beautiful campus of the University of Notre Dame, the Responsible AI in Finance event is hosted by the Notre Dame-IBM Technology Ethics Lab, which is a key component of the Notre Dame Institute for Ethics and the Common Good, in collaboration with the Lucy Family Institute for Data & Society.

This event will gather professionals in the finance industry, Notre Dame faculty, alumni, students, and other experts to discuss the intersection of AI, ethics, and finance to explore strategies and pragmatic approaches to mitigate bias, enhance fairness, and champion transparency in AI applications within the financial sector. Our objectives are to raise further awareness of the potential benefits, ethical considerations, and regulatory nuances that underpin the integration of AI in finance and collectively advance towards a shared vision of what Responsible AI in Finance represents today.

The one-day event will take place on November 6th, 2024. It will feature plenary sessions, including remarks from Jim Kavanaugh, IBM’s Chief Financial Officer, Christina Montgomery, IBM’s Vice President and Chief Privacy and Trust Officer, and Todd Conklin, Chief AI Officer and Deputy Assistant Secretary, Cybersecurity/Critical Infrastructure Protection at the U.S. Department of the Treasury. It will also include panel discussions featuring Notre Dame faculty, leaders in the finance industry, government representatives, and civil society experts participating in conversations focused on leadership, risk, governance, and impact. The day will end with a networking reception and dinner.
